Was born in Bussi sul Tirino (Pescara) in 1938. He studied at the Politechnic in Milan and in 1964 he got a degree in Architecture; at the same time he made researches on visual arts and music. As an architect, artist, designer and researcher in the big area of the systems of communication, since 1962 he has developed a work to clear up the relationship between the individual and the environment.
In the Sixties he developed an intense experimental work, which turned into the theories of the “Sistema disequilibrante” ("Unbalancing system") and was his personal contribution to european radical design. He communicated his researches through works and exhibitions: he was invited to create experimental environments in 1968 at the "Triennal" in Milan and in 1972 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York for the exhibition “Italy New Domestic Landscape”. He was curator of the Audiovisual Section of the "Triennal" in Milan in 1981, of the exhibition "Chronographies" at the "Biennal" in Venice in 1992 and of the "Natural-Virtual" Section at the "Triennal" in Milan in 1996.
He was Director of the magazines: In, Progettare Inpiù, Brera Flash, Fascicolo, Area, Abitare con Arte; he is currently Director of the magazine "D’Artigianato tra Arte e Design".
He worked as a redactor of the magazines Domus, D’ARS e AU.
He won the first prize at the Cinema Festival in Nancy in 1975, the prize "Compasso d’Oro" in 1979, the second prize at the Competition for the Urban Park "ex Manifattura Tabacchi" in Bologna in 1985; he was selected for the first grade at the Competition for the restoration of St. Lorence Columns in Milan.
Since 1985 he has organized exhibitions and seminars about the culture of project in the various areas of crafts, among which: mosaic from Spilimbergo and Ravenna, wood from Cantù and from Saluzzo, carved wood from Sorrento, alabaster from Volterra, stone from Lecce and Alcamo, lavic stone from Sicily, ceramics from Faenza, Deruta, Caltagirone, Vietri sul Mare, Friuli, Grottaglie, crystal from Colle Val d’Elsa.
Since 1962, he has made more than 900 exhibitions (both personal and collective) in galleries and museums in Italy and abroad.
He has worked as a teacher at the Dipartiments of Architecture in Milano, Pescara, Palermo, Torino, Venezia, Milan; at the "Istituto d’Arte" in Monza; at the "ISIA" in Faenza; at the "Istituto Europeo di Design" in Milan; at the Academy of Fine Arts "Brera" in Milan; since 2000 he is Headmaster of the Dipartiment "Progettazione Artistica per l’Impresa" at the Academy of Fine Arts "Brera" in Milan.
He has designed products and collections for many firms, among which: Poggi (Pavia), Elam (Meda), Tosi Mobili (Udine), Busnelli (Lentate), Abet Laminati (Milan), Alessi (Novara), Artemide (Milan), Barovier e Toso (Venezia), Cerdisa (Modena), Cleto Munari (Vicenza), Coop.
