OFF Paris Seine

Be rocked to sleep. Now it is possible to experience it at OFF Paris Seine, the city’s first floating accommodation and the first hotel furnished by Opinion Ciatti. Florence based company together with Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman, the famous couple of fashion and interior designers, conceived the interiors of public areas and two suites of the boutique hotel moored at the foot of the Austerlitz station in the 13° arrondissement.

OFF Paris Seine is based on the articulation of two twin buildings placed side by side. The hotel itself is crossed by the river, like Paris is crossed by the Seine, like a mise-en-abîme. The purpose-built vessels, currently the largest moored on the river, host 54 rooms and 4 suites, in between there are the common areas: an internal patio, a plunge pool and a marina. Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman, together with Lapo Ciatti, conceived a system which perfectly emphatizes the concept of the whole project, the perfect interconnection between the barges and the river, the river and the city. The hotel experience is distinctly Parisian, minus the urban intensity. There’s a calming effect as the currents flow beneath the windows of the floatel. A striking example is the lounge ceiling, an expanse of suspended mirrors which turns the Seine into a sky, while vibrating as the boat gently shifts with the river. Or in the reception area where a 250-year-old piece of wood is embedded on the reception desk, weathered as if it had been transported by the water, and here it had choosen to stop. The same aim for the two suites called Designers Suites – Sunset and Silver - decorated monochromatically as to accompany into the rooms the play of light and the reflections of water which change from sunrise to sunset.

There are in the lounge - a charming winter garden during the cold season thanks to the large windows which keep warm inside, while in the summer an open patio around the plunge pool – copper leaf Mammamia chairs and ILtavolo tables besides new editions of well-known family products which change in shape and size or wear new fabrics or materials. Black walnut is the new top for ILtavolo Caffé and chocolate leather covers Chummy stools and Guelfo collection seatings, here not only sofas and wingbacks but also a special stylish small armchair. As to seal the room a stunning ceiling of 8,800 squares of metal, a suspended cascade which follows the gentle movement of this floating world.

Copper tones, the same of the warmest lights over the Seine, shine in the welcome area. A precious copper leaf covers the tailor made furnishings of the reception: the square motif structure of the desk, fully conceived around the top where an old tree trunck is embedded into, like a precious gem, as well as the divider behind it. A very special copper edition of Waves, the suspension designed by Maurizio Galante for Opinion Ciatti already inspired by water ripple effect, completes the picture.

Colour issue is the concept behind Sunset and Silver suites. The full-color, unique and all-encompassing, which following the cycle of the sun changes throughout the day and paints new shades and tonalities on the river and all it contains.

Monochrome palette is the distinctive tip of both the Designers Suites. From the walls to the ceiling, from the room’s furniture to the bathroom’s tub and sinks, the chosen tones define the identity of these floating apartments.

Sunset suite is a universe between mandarin and copper. Sunset as the stunning sundown that you can admire from its windows. Mandarin on the walls and mandarin as the colour of upholstery eco-friendly leather which wears Chummy collection seatings. Mandarin as the copper leaf which lightly lays not only on all the lamps of the room (wall and floor lamps of LAlampada series) but also exceptionally on the containers Bad Buddy, here converted into an unusual bathroom furniture, and Formosa Accucciata used as a bedside table. Mandarin copper leaf is the finishing of a new edition of ILtavolo and of the custom made cabinet and four-poster bed and strictly orange pop are the bathtub and wash basins, also supplied by Opinion Ciatti. Two large square mirrors, a very special new edition of the not-longer produced Gong, complete the display.

Suite Silver is an explosion of light and it pays homage to the reflections that the sun rays create during the day on the water. Monochrome palette of silvers and round shapes, the hallmarks of the apartment, are hence a way to enhance and amplify this effect. A delicate silver leaf covers the composition of Bad Buddy - here as bathroom furniture - and LAlampada – here in wall and floor lamp versions. It gives an unexpected charm to bedsides and purpose-made dressing tables of Bon.Bon collection and to the top of a small size edition of ILtavolo Caffé table. Finally silver leaf even more embellishes Principe Galeotto cabinet. Round as the sun are the mirrors of the room. Round is Gong, realized again especially for this project, and round are the mirrors which shape the unique ceiling installation just above the bed. A new edition of the Gagà Collection by Maurizio Galante for Opinion Ciatti, a new way to turn the river Seine into a beautiful sky.

White eco-friendly leather stools and sofas of Chummy collection underline the whitness as well as eye-popping canary yellow bathtub and double wash basin break it.

Being part of this project was a great honour for us – Lapo Ciatti, Opinion Ciatti CEO and Art Director, says – not only because we were involved in the construction of what will be forever the first floating hotel in Paris but also because we won a challenge with ourselves. OFF gave us the chance to measure our own ability to deal with such remarkable and complex project. We had already joined important contract partnerships in the past here in France. We supplied Mammamia chairs and ILtavolo tables to the new Media Center in Saint Malò and our 5Blocks are in the Marais Chanel Beauty Store, but this is the first time we have to manage the entire made to measure design process. I want to say thank you to my dear friends Maurizio and Tal for asking me to collaborate. This experience strengthens our aim to be even more focused on details and personalization for both the residential sector and the different segments of the contract sector. We are excited and curious about the new design challenges that have yet to come. New opportunities to live once again #myopinionworld experience.
