Mammamia Raw was awarded at the Archiproducts Design Awards

The fourth award in three years: after Pepe in 2021, Berberé and ILtavolo 2.0 in 2022, it was Mammamia Raw that was honoured in the 2023 edition of the Archiproducts Design Awards.

The jury, made up of some of the most influential names in the world of design and architecture, appreciated the research and innovation that characterize the outdoor version of Marcello Ziliani's chair, the latest addition to the large collection of seats.

The awards ceremony took place during an evening event hosted in the evocative spaces of Superstudio in Milan. 1,300 guests from all over the world attended to celebrate the best expressions of a design that is increasingly called to be at the 'service' of people and a witness to a world that that truly embraces the themes of sustainability and social responsibility.

For the occasion, a special exhibition was set up, on display, as works of art, the best winning projects. Among them our Mammamia Raw.

«It was a pleasure, as well as a great satisfaction, to attend the ADA party, certainly one of the most successful formulas for celebrating the value of design with joy, in the company of so many pleasant people – commented Marcello Ziliani. – And I am happy that the jury grasped the qualities of this 'brutalist' version of Mammamia, which literally bares its sophisticated technical features and unashamedly reveals traces and signs of workmanship, which thus become a powerful expressive element.»

This project was strongly pursued by the Brescian designer and Lapo Ciatti, not only to offer the seat new opportunities for use, but to do so in an ecological way.

The challenge was to find the perfect "recipe" that would keep the distinctive features of Mammamia intact – the lightness of the forms combined with solidity and ergonomics – but that would be extremely innovative at the same time.

The solution came when it was possible to obtain a natural finish for the aluminium shell, the recyclable metal par excellence, through a process that allowed the characteristics of the material to shine through.

«I am truly happy and grateful for this award – said Lapo Ciatti –. Not only because it is our fourth in three years, but above all because it testifies to the passion we put into the finding solutions for a better world every day. A passion that in my case has matured and grown over the years, also thanks to Marcello Ziliani.»
